Grade 7 and 8 Sock Hop
Last Friday afternoon, we held our Intermediate “Sock Hop “dance. It was a fun and enjoyable afternoon for our Grade 7 and 8 students. Thank you to Mr. Benedict for co-ordinating this event.

Northlea Celebrates Autism Awareness Month
This week we celebrated Autism Awareness month by wearing Blue t-shirts on Monday as well as the students in Room 207 sold popcorn to support the breakfast program in their class.

Ms. Fazl’s class attended a workshop at TIFF yesterday and created a Documentary focusing on social justice. They will be going back to TIFF on April 18th to watch a movie and to explore the latest technology at Digiplay Space.

Our Girls Group (Grades 6 to 8) participated in yoga today and the students in Mme. Butts and Mme. Resnick’s class learnt more about relaxation techniques.

21st Century Learning
On Thursday, April 20th please join us at Northlea for an evening of  21st Century Learning.
From 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. many of Northlea students will be showcasing our use of technology and problem solving that highlights how students are learning in the 21st Century. Exhibits include coding using iPad apps and Dash and Dot, problem solving using manipulatives, assistive technology, problem solving in math and science and more!!

Pink Day Next Week
Wednesday April 12 is International Day of PINK! Let’s all wear pink and support the elimination of bullying and other forms of mistreatment on Wednesday.

April is Latin-America History Month at the TDSB
Latin-America History Month at the TDSB is recognized during the month of April.  Across the TDSB, we have over 5000 students and over 21 countries from Latin-America that will be represented as we learn and celebrate the diverse ethnicities, nationalities, cultures and languages of Latin-America. Linguistically, the diversity of peoples with Latin-America ancestry sees over 500 hundred languages spoken, including Indigenous and African languages such as Kuna and Garifuna.
