Primary and Junior Assemblies: “WE” Won’t Waste

As you may know, many WE committee members are also part of the Recycling Team.
This role inspired our members to think about and research how we deal with WASTE in our school, and in both our local and global communities. 
Our students found lots of information about food waste, methods of recycling, clothing and textile waste, etc. They challenged themselves to help reduce waste by starting to make a difference in our school community. 
On Thursday February 8th during periods 4 & 5 WE will be hosting 2 brief assemblies in the North Gym.
Grades 1-4: 12:55 – 1:25
Grades 5-8:  1:45 – 2:15
Also students will be coming around to Primary Classes on Monday February 12th at the start of period 4 for a 5 minute presentation. We will also have morning announcements in the upcoming weeks on the topic of waste as well as a lunch room presentation on Monday February 12th. 
Lastly, one group from our committee was inspired to start a “gently used winter-clothing drive”. They will be making an announcement regarding this and boxes will be located outside of the office for any donations. This will be shared with the Northlea community. There is nothing you need to do in terms of collection. All donated clothing will be taken to both Out of the Cold programs and New Circles.
