Northlea values the tremendous contributions of the parents and community volunteers who give so much of their time and effort to make our school a better place. Teachers typically provide volunteer opportunities with classroom activities, excursions and special events. Parents are encouraged to be involved in the school and parent volunteers are greatly appreciated by the Home & School for their assistance with a variety of events. POLICE REFERENCE CHECK – VOLUNTEERS
We are always excited to welcome volunteers for school trips, Scientist in the school, pizza lunches, and more! To participate, please remember to complete the TDSB required police reference
The Ontario government requires that all school volunteers obtain a Police Reference Check (PRC)/Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC). The intent of this legislation is to ensure that schools and classrooms are safe places for students. The cost of the initial PRC is $26.72 and at the volunteer’s expense. Please send the completed PDF to your school’s administration office or the official Police Reference Check Office at policereferencecheckoffice@tdsb.on.ca.
Forms for these checks are available in the school office. To help facilitate this process, parents interested in volunteering may pay the fee in cash or a personal cheque (made payable to Northlea EMS) and complete the form in the school office. After the initial PRC, the volunteer must have their records updated every year by completing an Offence Declaration.
