Help Shape Our School Community: Join the Home & School Council Leadership Team

4

Hello Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

As we head into summer, the Home & School Council is reaching out to ask for your consideration in stepping into one of our most important volunteer roles: Chair and/or Vice-Chair.

With Natasha Kent stepping down as Chair, we’re currently seeking new leadership for the upcoming school year. These roles are vital to the success of the Council — and ultimately, to the experiences and opportunities we’re able to provide for all Northlea students.

Why These Roles Matter

The Chair and Vice-Chair(s) lead a dynamic team of parent volunteers and help organize the efforts that bring valuable programming, equipment, and community-building events to our children. Together, the Council raises funds annually for initiatives that directly benefit our students.

You won’t be doing it alone! We are ideally looking for:

  • 2–3 Co-Chairs to share leadership of the Council
  • 2 Vice-Chairs to support and help lead key initiatives

This collaborative model allows for shared responsibilities, peer support, and flexibility in how the work is divided. Plus, you’ll have the full backing of an experienced Executive Council.

What’s Involved

This is a meaningful opportunity to:

  • Build stronger connections within our school community
  • Have a direct impact on students’ school experiences
  • Bring your voice—and help amplify others’

Core Responsibilities

  • Attend at least 4 Council meetings per year
  • Help organize meetings and set agendas
  • Work closely with the school Principal and TDSB representatives
  • Consult with parents and lead fundraising/engagement event
  • Foster open communication between families, the school, and the wider community
  • Ensure meeting minutes and Council decisions are well-documented

If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved, this is a great way to make a difference — and you’ll be supported every step of the way.

And there are more roles to be filled for the 2025/2026 school year!

Wishing everyone a safe and restful summer!
